Jocelyn is currently an Emergency Department nurse at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore City. She previously graduated from the College of the Holy Cross in 2018, where she majored in chemistry and followed the Pre-Health track. She then completed her nursing education at the University of Maryland School of Nursing in May 2022. Jocelyn was born in Santiago, Chile where she lived until the age of 15, when she moved to Pennsylvania. Jocelyn is a founding member of AcE, and is passionate about bringing easier and consistent access to healthcare to Honduras.

Zenaida is currently an Orthopedic Surgery resident at the Harvard Combined Orthopedic Residency Program. She was born in Ghana, and raised in Maryland near the D.C. area. She previously attended Princeton University, where she majored in English with a minor in African Studies. She then completed her medical education at Northwestern University Medical School in May 2022. Zenaida has a passion for healthcare equity and access both domestically and globally. She has worked in Tanzania and Ghana as an undergraduate and medical student exploring local healthcare systems, and then worked domestically as a health equity fellow within the Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Minority Health. Zenaida is dedicated to addressing disparities in orthopedic surgery access and outcomes, and aims to address global orthopedic capacity building in underserved communities throughout her career.

Cricket is currently a Clinical Research Coordinator at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in the Multiple Myeloma Department in Boston, Massachusetts. She previously graduated from the College of the Holy Cross in 2021, majoring in biology on the pre-medical track. During undergrad, she helped start the first AcE Recognized Student Organization dedicated to raising funds for our AcE initiatives, and is dedicated to spreading the AcE mission to institutions across the coutnry. Cricket is also responsible for fundraising over $10,000 through the various fundraisers she has hosted, and started the AcE Prescription Eyeglass Donation Drive. She eventually hopes to go to medical school, and spend a lifetime caring for underserved communities through AcE.

Mimi is currently a Clinical Research Coordinator at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in the Center for Cancer Therapeutic Innovation in Boston, Massachusetts. She previously graduated from the College of the Holy Cross in 2021, majoring in psychology on the pre-medical track. Alexander is currently an Ophthalmology resident at the Scheie Eye Institute of the University of Pennsylvania. Native to Germany, Alexander completed his bachelor's degree with honors in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Trinity University, where he was also elected to become a Phi Beta Kappa scholar. He then completed his medical education at Tufts University School of Medicine, where he graduated in 2022. After residency, he plans to complete a fellowship in retina surgery or oculoplastics. He looks forward to a lifetime of providing comprehensive ophthalmologic care and research to underserved communities.

Justin is currently beginning his general surgery internship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He is an Orlando-native who completed his bachelor’s degree with honors in Neuroscience at the University of California Los Angeles in 2017. He then completed his medical education at Tufts University School of Medicine, where he graduated in 2022. Justin is. He plans to enter the field of otolaryngology (ENT), where he has particular interest in the surgical management of thyroid/parathyroid disorders, hearing loss, and cleft lip/palate. Justin looks forward to devoting much of his future clinical practice to providing care to underprivileged patients in lower and middle-income countries of Latin America.

Nicole is currently a Pediatric resident at The University of North Carolina Hospitals with an interest in pursuing fellowship after her residency training. Nicole graduated from the College of the Holy Cross in 2016, where she majored in Psychology with a concentration in Biological Psychology. She then completed her medical education at The University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, where she graduated in 2022. While at UNECOM, Nicole was inducted into both Sigma Sigma Phi and the Gold Humanism Honor Society. Her commitment to service and compassion for the underserved populations of Central America has led her to both Guatemala and Honduras with mission teams in the past. She is a founding member of AcE and is honored to continually serve the people of Honduras, with a focus around the advancement of pediatric medicine.

Vincent is currently a General Surgery resident at Nuvance Health in Poughkeepsie, NY. He graduated from the College of the Holy Cross in 2016, with a major in Biology and a minor in Philosophy. Vincent then completed his medical education at The University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he graduated in 2022. He also previously worked as a Research Assistant at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, managing the recruitment, enrollment, and oversight for several social-behavioral research projects. He is a founding member of AcE and is honored to continually serve the people of Honduras, with a focus on addressing the dire lack of surgical care in the country.

The AcE Public School was developed in direct response to a community that lacked a school for its hundreds of children. Our Public School was the first project of AcE, and the reason for its initial incorporation as a nonprofit. To date, we have raised over $155,000 towards the construction, maintenance, and improvement of our school’s facilities.

Now in our 5th year of classes, we currently provide a tuition-free kindergarten thru 9th grade education to 275 students from our partner community in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. We have a 96% graduation rate and work closely with the local and national Honduran governments, receiving funding to pay the salaries of four of our teachers while we pay the remaining four.

Carl is currently an independent grant and policy consultant based in Austin, Texas, working full-time as an analyst at a telecommunications consulting firm. He previously graduated from the College of the Holy Cross, where he majored in Political Science. He then continued his education at the LBJ School of Public Affairs at The University of Texas at Austin, where he received his Master’s Degree in Public Affairs. While at UT Austin, he studied information policy and international economic development. After gaining experience in the nonprofit world at the Boys & Girls Clubs, he was a founder of AcE with in 2015 while a student at College of the Holy Cross. Since obtaining his master’s degree in 2018, Carl has worked in a variety of roles in state government, including several stints in the Texas Legislature. He hopes to translate his experiences in the public and private sector into continued success for AcE well into the future.

Barbara is currently receiving her Master's Degree in Genetic Counseling at the Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions. She graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a major in Biomedical Sciences. She was born in Brazil and is also fluent in Portuguese, serving as the Manager of Deg’s Cakes, her family-owned Brazilian cake shop. After graduate school, she hopes to work in prenatal genetics, assisting families through conception and navigating difficult hereditary conditions. With an interest in global health and ancillary healthcare, she hopes to bring comprehensive care to underserved communities across the globe.

Ramone graduated from Tufts University in Boston in 2018 and 2022 with a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Psychology and Masters of Biomedical Sciences respectively. He has a background in consulting and research coordination. As an immigrant, he is passionate about improving global health and creating meaningful and long term relationships between institutions locally and abroad. He is enjoying the path to becoming a physician and looks to be of service to the communities he is a part of.

After 12 years of touring internationally with Michael Flatley's Lord of the Dance as a Principal Dancer, Declan currently resides in Boston where he works as a Client Solutions Manager with Robert Half Marketing & Creative. Graduating from the College of the Holy Cross in 2015 with a BA in English, Crowley is also the Founding Director of Slingshot Artists, where he and his team specialize in content, production, and management services for independent performing and creative artists. An All-Ireland Irish Dance Champion and NFAA YoungArts Silver Medalist, Declan's production credits as an art department specialist include J Cole, Mark Wahlberg, George Lopez, Lil Baby, Ty Dolla $ign, Lil TJay, Joyner Lucas, and J.I.D. He looks forward to collaborating with everyone at AcE to ensure that the organization's mission is communicated with confident, world-class branding- the ultimate goal being to make Action for Education a global leader in health and education.

Kevin Marzotto is currently a 2nd year medical student at Tulane University School of Medicine, with the goal of eventually pursuing a career in Pediatrics. He is previously a class of 2018 graduate from the College of the Holy Cross, where he majored in Chemistry. At AcE, Kevin looks forward to conducting epidemiology research to help our team identify and address pressing health concerns in the communities we serve.

Alexis is currently a 1st year medical student at Tufts University School of Medicine where he also serves as the President of the Orthopaedics Interest Group. Alexis previously graduated from DePaul University in Chicago, where he completed a B.S. in Health Science. He was born in Mexico and is fluent in Spanish. As an undergraduate, Alexis led several service trips that provided free health care and implemented public health infrastructure interventions in Honduras, Nicaragua, and Ghana. He looks forward not only to providing care in these communities as a clinician, but also to expanding AcE’s impact to clinical care in Honduras through research.

Sadie currently attends the University of Vermont’s Larner College of Medicine, she is in her third year of studies and is so far enjoying the variety of clerkship year. Prior to medical school, she attended the University of New England where she studied Medical Biology and Art Therapy; she graduated with honors in 2019. During her time at her undergraduate institution, she worked as a student research assistant in an HIV/Opioid lab in addition to working as an emergency room technician at the local hospital. Sadie is currently involved with several research projects at her home institution and spends time volunteering with the art outreach projects at UVM medical center. Sadie is looking forward to developing research projects that help to improve healthcare access and equitability.

Sophia graduated from Washington University in St. Louis in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. She is now a 3rd year medical student at the University of Minnesota Medical School where she serves as Executive President of Student Council and is pursuing a career in orthopedic surgery. She has a passion for global health, and as the former president of the Orthopedic Surgery Interest Group, she organized the transport of 3000+ medical supplies to aid in Haiti’s recovery after the 2021 earthquake. She looks forward to channeling this passion at AcE by aiding in the creation of research projects that provide greater insight into global healthcare disparities and shed light on ways to improve healthcare access.

Chelsea is currently a medical student at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson University. She previously graduated from Montclair State University with a degree in biology, and then went on to complete her Master’s in Biomedical Sciences with a focus in neuroscience at Rutgers University. She also previously worked and conducted research at the National Institute of Health (NIH) and Yale University, where her passion for research continued to grow and culminated in two award-winning poster presentations. Chelsea is dedicated to addressing the dire inequality in maternal health throughout the world, and looks forward to bringing needed prenatal and maternal healthcare to underserved communities.

Shane is currently the New England Regional Sales Executive at CS Disco. He previously graduated with Honors from the College of the Holy Cross in 2017 with a degree in History. Following graduation, Shane entered into the legal services space, beginning his career at Robert Half Legal, and eventually becoming the New England Account Executive for Veritext Legal Solutions. Shane is passionate about bringing strategy and organization to AcE’s outreach initiatives to help drive relationships and fundraising.

Matt is currently a Customer Relations Manager at State Fund Insurance Agency in Boston, servicing a nationwide base of clients and managing developmental and outreach efforts for the company. He graduated from Emerson College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Media Production, specializing in Audio Engineering. He began his career working as a production assistant at Overit Studios in Albany, New York, working on a wide range of multimedia marketing projects, content creation, and promotional efforts for a variety of local and national businesses and independent creators. Matt is excited about working to expand the global reach and visibility of AcE through a diverse array of fundraising and outreach projects.

Maegan is a 4th year medical student at the Larner College of Medicine at the University of Vermont. She previously graduated magna cum laude from College of the Holy Cross in 2017 where she majored in Biology. Maegan had extensive involvement in cell biology research in her undergraduate career as well as her first experiences in global health with service trips to Honduras. Maegan now plans to pursue a career in anesthesiology and critical care, and has continued her passion for aiding others in education and medical care in medical school through peer tutoring and UVM’s Global Health Program. She plans to enter academic medicine and continue improving access to medicine worldwide throughout her career.

Carolyn "Cally" Waite is currently a surgical PA in NYC. She previously graduated from the College of the Holy Cross in 2018, where she majored in chemistry. She then completed her graduate education at the Weill Cornell Physician Assistants (PA) Program and graduated in May 2022. At AcE, Cally is responsible for fundraising efforts for the Trinidad School of Nursing.

Matilda recently retired in 2022 after working as a NCUA Supervisory Examiner in varying capacities for 35 years. NCUA is a Federal regulatory and insuring agency for credit unions, where she was responsible for supervising examiners and credit unions in her district with assets over $25 billion. She previously graduated from Siena University in 1984 where she majored in Accounting. She managed her entire career while raising her two proud children, including Michael Mastroianni, AcE’s President. Matilda looks forward to maintaining the financial records of AcE and to promoting financial sustainability of our entire operations
